This former Portguese colony is located in southeast Asia and is one of the two special administrative regions (SARs) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) along with Hong Kong.
Macau has been called the Las Vegas of the East, a sleepy, relaxed seaside town, and a hidden gem of unique, world–class heritage sites. Despite the apparent contradictions, all three are accurate.
Macau has a population of just over 500,000. However, it is expected to receive over 24 million tourists in 2007.
