Celebrating 15 Years of Magic
On the 19th and 20th of April, our talented elementary students transported us from the Neil P. Johnston Theatre, to a land Far Far Away: the enchanting world of Shrek Jr. From the hilarious Donkey to the fearless Fiona, the villainous Lord Farquaad to everyone’s favourite ogre, Shrek himself, a total cast of 82 students delivered three outstanding shows that left parents, teachers, and friends in awe.
Under the guidance of Ms. Stribbell, Mrs. Schmidt, and Ms. Hanson, our students brought the animated characters to life in unforgettable performances. Managing a stage of almost 100 students requires dedication, perseverance, and teamwork and seeing this production come to life was inspiring, and eye-opening to the magic of theatre. Each moment on stage was a testament to their talent and the endless hours of practice and preparation they have dedicated for months. Bravo!
At TIS, there are no small parts and every student has a part in the production. Participating in the elementary musical provides students with a platform for self-expression and creativity, giving our young performers the opportunity to explore different characters, emotions, and stories, and allowing them to tap into their imaginations and develop their artistic abilities. Through memorising lines, mastering choreographies, singing, acting, and dancing, they not only gain a boost of confidence and develop their public speaking skills, but are also able to express themselves in ways that may not be possible in other settings.
This special performance marked the 15th year of TIS Elementary Musicals. As we celebrated this incredible milestone, we took a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Stribbell, whose dedication to the elementary musicals over the years has been nothing short of extraordinary. Her passion, guidance, and caring support have shaped the lives of countless students, nurturing their love for the arts and providing them with amazing musical experiences. Thank you, Ms. Stribbell, for 15 years of uplifting memories, and for enriching our lives through the power of music and theatre!
