Mark LockwoodIt is my pleasure to welcome everyone to what will be another exciting school year at The International School (TIS) of Macau. TIS is a pre-kindergarten to grade 12 school, where our mission is to develop socially responsible, lifelong learners able to problem solve, think critically, and make positive changes in our global community. We are accredited by the Education Ministry of Alberta, Canada and our graduates receive a high school diploma that is recognized by universities around the world. At TIS, we offer the Alberta curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB) program for our high school students as a program of choice. A new school year is always an exciting time for everyone. It brings many opportunities; new classes, new faces, busy schedules and many choices. TIS is a positive and supportive school with the best interest of all of our students as our priority. It is my honor and privilege to be taking over for Mr. Stribbell to lead a school that has an excellent reputation for providing high quality education and outstanding extra-curricular experiences for all students. It is my belief that school staff, parents, guardians, and volunteers must collaborate as an effective team to create a nurturing environment. I encourage open communication between home and school at all times. If you have a comment, question or concern, please do not hesitate to contact us; I know our staff will extend the same courtesy. On behalf of the staff at TIS, I extend my wishes for a successful and fulfilling school year. Mark Lockwood Head of School
Lorne SchmidtAs someone new to TIS, I have been impressed by its culture of holistic education and the professional and collaborative approach engendered by the school. I look forward to working with students, parents, teachers and all members of the TIS community in continuing the excellent learning opportunities offered here. My experience as an educator includes 15 years of teaching Mathematics and Science to secondary aged students in Alberta, Canada, followed by 15+ years of teaching in international schools in Shanghai and Singapore. For the past 12 years in Singapore, I was the High School (Grade 9-12) Deputy Principal and IB Diploma Coordinator at a relatively large school that offered IB MYP and IGCSE to Grade 9 and 10 students and IB Diploma programmes to Grade 11 and 12 students. I look forward to developing the TIS IB Diploma programme and incorporating the best of educational practices into our TIS Alberta-based curriculum, to continue with the school’s mission to cultivate the skills and attitudes that enable lifelong learning and caring for the community.
"I look forward to continuing to build the ELL program for elementary students here at TIS as well as assisting teachers in the development of personalized learning models for all students."Mary-Anne brings a wealth of experience to the Elementary Principal position, most recently as the school's Learning Support Coordinator. Her background also includes a number of administrative positions with the Calgary School Board in Canada, where she developed and supported programming for young learners. Ms. Jasinski was also an elementary school teacher for fifteen years.
