It Takes a Village to Change the World

Dec 23, 2019

Over the past month, TIS teachers and students have been hard at work fundraising for the Activist-in-Residence program and their efforts have definitely paid off.  We are thrilled to announce that the total raised to date is just over 15,000USD, an amazing amount in such a short time! We are well on our way to meeting our year-end goal of 20,000USD (MOP161,500)!

Seventy percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Earth Innovation Institute and their work in combating deforestation in the rainforests of Brazil, while the remaining  30 percent will go toward Songqiao Yao's organization, Wildbound, for the UN student ambassador program. These funds will be used to showcase some of TIS' ecological initiatives at the Kunming China, UN conference on Biodiversity in October 2020.

A huge thank-you to the entire TIS community for its commitment to raising awareness of climate change and so passionately supporting Songqiao's work. "The two days at TIS were a true highlight of the year for me, and thank you for all your hard work to make it happen!" said Songqiao.

Songqiao kindly donated her fees to the Biodiversity Ambassador Program.
